Who we are
Institute for Policy and Gender Advancement (IPGA) is a private, not-for-profit institute registered in Nigeria under RC 9652135. For the purposes of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, IPGA is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.
You can reach us at info@i-pga.org · No. 8 Shehu Chindo Yamusa Street, Keffi, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.
What we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us, and what our hosting provider records automatically in order to serve the site securely.
- Contact form: your name, email address, organisation (optional), the reason for your enquiry, and your message.
- Newsletter: your email address.
- Email: if you write to us directly, whatever your message contains.
- Server logs: our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to keep the site running and secure, not to build a profile of you.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies. It uses no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no embedded third-party media. Nothing on the page loads from another company's server.
That is a deliberate choice. Visitors on metered mobile data should not pay to be measured, and readers of policy research should not be profiled for reading it. It also means we cannot tell you how many people visited a page, a trade we are content with.
Some links take you to other organisations: our Facebook and Instagram pages, or Google Maps for directions to our office. Those services have their own privacy practices and will know you have arrived. We do not load anything from them until you click.
Why we may process your data
- Consent: for the newsletter. You give it by subscribing, and can withdraw it at any time.
- Steps taken at your request: to answer an enquiry you have sent us.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the website secure and operating, and to keep a record of correspondence with partners.
- Legal obligation: where we are required to retain records, for example for audit.
Who else sees it
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for marketing. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: a website host, and a service that delivers contact-form submissions and newsletter sign-ups to us.
Some of these providers operate outside Nigeria, which means your data may be transferred abroad. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a comparable standard.
Before launch, name the actual providers here. A privacy notice that says “a service provider” without naming it is not much use to the person reading it.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: kept while we deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we have a record of the correspondence.
- Newsletter: kept until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: kept for a short period by our hosting provider for security and diagnostics.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Ask us to delete your data, where we have no continuing reason to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to a particular use.
- Receive your data in a portable form.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.
- Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe we have handled your data wrongly.
Exercise a data right
info@i-pga.orgWe will respond within a reasonable period and will not charge you for it.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to enquiries and subscriber lists is limited to colleagues who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects you and we are required to.
Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it. Our approach to photography of children, and to working with young people in our programmes, is set out in our safeguarding statement.
Changes to this notice
If we change how the site handles personal data, for example by adding analytics or embedding a map, we will update this notice and change the date at the top before making the change.
